History and Purpose

In 1935 the first Fair was held at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. Since then, not only has the Fair continued annually, but the Monterey County Fair & Event Center has become the site for an eclectic mix of public and private events including music festivals, community dinners, trade shows, and weddings. When the State of California eliminated funding for its fairgrounds in 2011, the Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation was created to assist in supporting the Fair & Event Center.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation is to support the operations of the Monterey County Fair & Event Center and to fund community agriculture awareness activities, youth scholarships, and capital improvements to Monterey County Fair & Event Center's facilities and grounds.

Vision Statement

The vision of the Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation is to ensure the future of the Monterey County Fair & Event Center as a vibrant and diverse community venue.

How We Raise Funds

We currently raise funds through donations, special events, and beverage concessions at the Fairgrounds. The Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation holds the exclusive beverage services contract with the Monterey County Fair & Event Center. We contribute at least 40% of the beverages concessions revenue directly to the Fair & Event Center to support continued Fair & Event Center operations and 100% of the concessions net income to capital improvements at the Fairgrounds. For more information on our beverage concessions services, please click here.

How You Can Help

There are many ways to help us in our efforts to ensure the future of the Monterey County Fair & Event Center:
  • Purchase a Heritage Foundation Annual Membership - click here
  • Donate to and participate in the live and silent auction during the Fair Kick Off BBQ
  • Contribute to the Heritage Animal Auction
  • Contact us with feedback to help us improve and expand fundraising opportunities
  • Encourage your friends and family to attend any and all events at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center - Event Calendar »

I was born in the Salinas Valley and have lived in Gonzales my entire life. I've been fortunate enough to have a significant support system form my family, who have also taught me the importance of having morals to live by and to be humble in everything I do. Many of my family members came as immigrants to the Salinas Valley to work the thriving agriculture. Therefore, I was always taught about the value of hard work, determination, and the significance agriculture plays in our lives and community. Throughout elementary school, middle school, and high school I kept my family's morals in mind and strived to do my best in school because I knew that I, along with my entire generation, would be the future of our families and of our cherished Salinas Valley. Which is why I was so intrigued to join my FFA chapter my freshmen year of high school and why I have also decided to peruse a career in Agribusiness. One of my primary goals is to successfully earn a degree in Agribusiness and return to the prosperous Salinas Valley and work hard to give back to the valley that has given me so much.

This program seeks to motivate well-rounded high academic achievers in pursuit of their careers and life goals in the areas of agriculture.

News & Events

A HUGE thank you to all of the event and media sponsors, breweries, and festival attendees for supporting the 2015 Monterey Beer Festival, the largest special fundraising event organized by the Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation. Please mark your calendars for next year’s Beer Festival to be held on June 11, 2016. Feedback from our inaugural Beer Week has been overwhelmingly positive. Look for expanded Beer Week offerings in June 2016!
